About Me

I write YA fiction and scripts for TV, film and radio.

My writing is inspired by real life. I am interested in the human drama, the stories which tug at the heartstrings and the amazing resilience of people who battle through desperate situations to come out the other side, happier. I hope my stories will leave readers with a sense of hope and expectation that life can get better, even when the chances look slim.

… And I also write non-fiction. My book of therapeutic and creative writing exercises – In Your Write Mind – was written to encourage you to write about your own battles and dramas; to see things from a different perspective, to help you feel happier, think more clearly, be kinder to yourself, solve problems, clarify goals and uncover the hidden beliefs which might be holding you back.

In the past I have worked with both children and adults as a teacher, hypnotherapist and creative writing therapist. I’ve also worked as a shop assistant, cleaner, cook, barmaid, waitress, civil servant, pill packer, children’s nanny, and classroom assistant, but nothing ever really put a smile on my face like writing does.

As well as writing scripts and books, I teach creative writing and I am available for school visits, writing workshops, and a little bit of laughter yoga. I also co-run Bath Writers’ Workshop, a supportive group of writers the Bath, Somerset area.
