About Me

I live in beautiful Cumbria, where I spend a lot of time walking my dogs and taking photos.

I mostly write fiction for young adults, inspired by real life. I am interested in the human drama, the stories which tug at the heart strings and the amazing resilience of people who battle through desperate situations to come out the other side, happier. I hope my stories will leave readers with a sense of hope and expectation that life can get better, even when the chances look slim.

My non-fiction book of therapeutic creative writing exercises - In Your Write Mind - is also now available.

In the past I have worked with both children and adults as a teacher, hypnotherapist and creative writing therapist, shop assistant, cleaner, cook, barmaid, waitress, clerk, pill packer, and more! But nothing ever really put a smile on my face like writing does.

As well as writing books, I teach creative writing to adults and children in Cumbria, and am the proud owner of Magic Beans

Bring Me Sunshine, was runner up in the Mslexia Children’s Novel Competition 2012/13.
