The Joy of Story

Enrolment is now open for Dallam Summer School courses, where I will be teaching The Joy of Story on August 11th. In this one day course, we will focus on character and plot. We will look at ways to create engaging characters, explore their challenges, and think about how they might react in given situations. And we will think about what makes a story work, the role of conflict in plot development, and generate plot ideas for you to use. You can expect fun writing exercises, class discussion and tutor-led feedback!

I will be returning to The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal, in the autumn.

AMAZING book review

This incredibly lovely review was created by the Kindle Ninja, after he/she had read Bring Me Sunshine. I am totally bowled over! It's awesome.

KN - Thank you for the time and effort you put into making this. I really appreciate it.

I am on the list...

... of The Guardian Readers' recommended self-published authors!

Back in June, The Guardian Newspaper asked readers to tell them about the best self-published books they had discovered, and out of over 3,200 authors, they featured just 34 'great authors', including me!

So a big THANK YOU to everyone who recommended Bring Me Sunshine.

You can read my books on prescription!

Middlesbrough Council's Young People's Books on Prescription service offers relevant books to young people in the area, for free. Evidence suggests that books can make a difference to to the way people feel and react to difficult personal circumstances, and I am absolutely delighted that all Applecore Books are on the list. Bring Me Sunshine and Where Bluebirds Fly are two of just nine fiction titles, and Kate Hanney's wonderfully gritty novels are also there.
